Strange things happen inside my head. So I found a career where that’s perfectly normal.

I’ve always had an overactive imagination, and distinctly remember sitting at the base of the big oak tree at school, building houses for the fairies, and telling their stories as I played.

Although I was born and raised in New Zealand, I’ve also lived in the UK, US, and Denmark. I love to meet new people, experience different cultures and expand my thinking. It’s also a great way to get story ideas. 🙂

For twelve years I was a magazine writer and editor, covering a range of topics from hammers, hardware and cruises, to travel, movies and cutting-edge research. It was an inspiring job, talking to people about their passion, and telling their stories in the best possible way.

But there was always a part of me that wanted to tell my own stories about the people running around in my head. So I decided to take the plunge and write a book. Luckily for me, I’ve been able to make a living from it.

These days I write full time from a secluded haven amongst the trees where I live with my husband and young daughter. I enjoy yoga, although I’m not very bendy, and karate, although I don’t like the idea of hitting anyone.

I’ve worked as a camp counsellor, a waitress, a checkout girl, and an editor. But none of those jobs compares to being able to call myself a writer.

I look forward to sharing my stories with you.
